Five Things Photographers Wish They Could Tell Potential Clients:

One. New Inquiries

Every time my email alerts me that there is an new inquiry in there, my heart flutters and I do a happy dance.

Every single inquiry I get excited about – no matter how big.

I am the sole person in my small business, so you only deal directly with me.

Upon opening the email, we do another happy dance, stalk out the venue on Instagram (and boy, do the ideas start flowing), even if we already shot there! It’s refreshing. We start planning out the best spots and photo opportunities that can happen and even cool spots that are not exactly at the venue, but local for some extra pizazz.

We will congratulate you and thank you for the email, and we will absolutely mean it in the most genuine way.

we definitely will respond as quickly as we possibly can.

Two. Be Honest.

Please don’t leave us hanging! We totally understand getting a better deal or even not emotionally vibing with us. And let me tell you, that is absolutely okay!

But to be honest, we are a small business and the flow of income isn’t guaranteed. As soon as we get your inquiry, we block off the date so we are automatically available to you. It might get a little awkward if someone else inquired after you, for the same date.

We will let you know if someone else inquired, not to twist your arm to book with us but rather if you found someone else, we dont want to lose out on a potential booking.

Send a quick email and we promise there will be no hard feelings!

Three. Let’s Talk Competition.

To those who love this field, there truly isn’t any “competition” but not in the way you’re thinking.

We are a small, close knit community and we all support one another. You booked her? That’s great! they do killer work!

Although we may get a little sad if you choose a friend over us – granted, we are human – we still get excited to see what type of magic they come up with! We constantly get to inspire each other.

Community > Competition

Four. Let’s Vibe.

So, let’s be honest, sometimes we just don’t connect how we imagine.

Sometimes, we will finish our consultation, and just KNOW that you’re not our client. And we know, you feel the same way.

We love getting to know each and everyone of you, and all the details of your wedding, but if you don’t feel at ease after talking to us, chances are we aren’t the one for you.

This is an important moment in your life and we want you to feel confident in your choice. Find someone that you can connect with, it will make all the difference.

Five. Prices.

“Why do you cost $X,XXX when [insert photographer name] costs $XXX?”

Let me ask you this: do you expect to pay the same price at different places for your ice cream? Even if they’re directly next to each other?

Of course not! We charge based on experience, deliveries, the experience, ect.

Im not going to tell you why I charge $XXXX and my friend charges $XXX but I will tell you that each and everyone of us are different and our prices are different, too. We did NOT pick our pricing just to charge you “an arm and a leg” but we charge you so we can offer you a great experience and serve you appropriately, and to the best of our ability.

Regardless, pick your favorite ice cream shop and we will be happy for you, either way!
